What is Escabel?
L’Escabel: a community café, not a bar ✨
Welcome to Escabel, a friendly place, open to everyone, where people come to share, exchange ideas, and get together.
☕ First and foremost, a community café
Contrary to appearances, Escabel is not a bar, but a community café.
-
Non-alcoholic drinks available to everyone.
-
-
Light alcoholic drinks (less than 18% ABV) reserved for members, only after 5 p.m. and depending on volunteer availability.
👉 Here, consumption is never mandatory: you can simply come and enjoy the space, work, play, or chat in a warm atmosphere.
💡 The principle of “suspended drinks”
At Escabel, solidarity is part of the café's spirit.
You can offer a coffee, tea, or any other drink to someone in need by leaving a drink on hold:
“I'll pay for two coffees, drink one, and the other will be offered to someone who needs it.”
A small gesture that makes a big difference!
🌱 More than just a coffee shop: a place to live
L’Escabel is also:
-
Open meetings and discussions
-
Workshops and community events
-
A space where everyone feels welcome
👉 Join us and discover L’Escabel, a community café where we cultivate friendliness and sharing.
The "Ask Angela" system is in place at Escabel. If you feel harassed or unsafe, you can find refuge and get support by asking for "Angela" at the counter.
Memberships
This year, our annual membership system is evolving to allow everyone to support us according to their desires and means.
That's why we now offer three decreasing membership levels throughout the year quarterly.
Those who can and wish to join at the "support" level will help finance memberships at the "solidarity" rate.
Membership not only allows participation in the association's governance and decision-making process, but also provides financial support for the operation of its various areas of action .

The “Bar” section of Escabel is managed by the Bar & Volunteer coordination, which provides this counter as a tool for socializing and conviviality.
Volunteers trained in beverage service create a friendly atmosphere so you can enjoy craft and local beers, local wine, tailored cocktails and even comforting hot drinks.
If you would like to volunteer yourself, please contact the counter to find out more.
